Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Demo: Contents and the 1,500 Sparklium Limit

Check the new demo's story cap, Academy stages, exam timing and absent voice commands before planning your play session.

How much of Story mode can you play?

You can explore Sun-Speckled Terrace until you collect 1,500 Sparklium, according to Nintendo’s November 2 demo notice. This is a progression cap, not a verified time limit or permission to complete every collectible in the first area. The new trial is specifically for the Switch 2 Edition.

The limit matters when choosing a goal. Use the demo to explore the opening and try the new mode; do not plan an unrestricted first-area completion run from a claim that the whole area is playable without qualification.

Which Academy stages are included?

Nintendo confirms an introductory stage and two exam courses. The official English campaign help names those courses Elementary A: Mushroom Mash and Elementary B: Treat Transport. Japanese material calls them メガキノコチャレンジ and おやつデリバリー.

Demo component What is confirmed
Story opening Sun-Speckled Terrace, ending at 1,500 Sparklium
Academy introduction An introductory stage explaining the mode
Elementary A Mushroom Mash
Elementary B Treat Transport
Voice commands Not available in this demo

This list is not a route guide. A course name and preview image do not establish a tested task order, medal threshold or fastest path.

Can you take an exam immediately?

Not on November 3. The demo is available, but Nintendo says demo exams begin after the full edition’s release. Normally they run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A special session is announced for Thursday, November 12, the release date.

Practice and exams are different activities. The exam-day guide gives the dated schedule; scoring and points explains why practising a course does not satisfy an exam-based campaign requirement.

Does demo progress carry forward?

Nintendo confirms transfer to the full version, with an exception for people who had already played Pikmin 4: only their new Academy demo data carries over in that situation. See the two branches in save transfer rather than assuming every returning player’s story trial replaces their existing progress.

The edition guide distinguishes a free trial from ownership of the full game. If you are looking for microphone controls, their absence is intentional: voice commands are not part of the demo.

Which official sources support this guide?

Checked November 3, 2026. No firsthand route or complete-area test is claimed.
