Pikmin 4 GameShare: Local, Online and Academy Requirements
Check Dandori Battle sharing, host and guest consoles, session limits, and the separate internet and membership rules for exams and scoreboards.
Which Pikmin activity is confirmed for GameShare?
Dandori Battles against another player. Nintendo’s edition pages name that activity for sharing locally or online through GameChat. They do not establish that GameShare also streams the whole Story campaign, co-op exploration or Academy exams.
The full edition containing this support is scheduled for November 12, 2026. As of November 3, this is an announced feature, not a report of a shared match played by this site.
What consoles do host and guest need?
| Session | Host | Guest | Other documented conditions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Local GameShare | Nintendo Switch 2 with the compatible game | Switch or Switch 2 | Devices nearby; access lasts for the shared session |
| Online GameShare through GameChat | Nintendo Switch 2 | Nintendo Switch 2 | GameChat, internet, Nintendo Account and required Nintendo Switch Online membership |
Nintendo’s general GameShare guide establishes the hardware distinction. The Pikmin product pages establish that this game’s supported activity is Dandori Battles. An original Switch can receive a compatible local session; it cannot initiate GameShare or join the Switch 2-only GameChat route.
One compatible copy can supply the shared session. The guest does not retain the shared game when the session ends. This is different from buying the edition or upgrade for their own play.
How is starting a session documented?
Nintendo’s general instructions say the host initiates GameShare from inside the compatible game, and guests choose GameShare from the HOME Menu, then the appropriate option. That is the documented system-level joining flow.
The reviewed material does not show the final Pikmin-specific host menu sequence. Do not substitute another game’s host buttons. The edition planner can help separate owning an edition from joining a supported shared battle, but it does not start a session.
Are Academy internet requirements the same as GameChat?
No. Keep these activities separate:
| Activity | Requirement explicitly stated in the cited material |
|---|---|
| Receive Academy stages | Internet connection |
| Take Academy exams | Internet connection and the exam’s availability period |
| Use Academy scoreboards | Nintendo Switch Online membership |
| Share online via GameChat | Switch 2 per participant, internet, Nintendo Account and required membership |
The source’s omission of a membership sentence beside one Academy action should not be expanded into a blanket promise that every Academy feature is subscription-free. GameChat also has its own availability and parental conditions; consult Nintendo’s current requirements for the participants.
Use exam days for the November 12 exception and normal weekend access. Stage releases and practice explains the monthly course schedule.
